Daily Log

Continued cutting through the soil using the pick ax, shovel, wheel barrel sift method.

Day was shortened due to visit to storage rooms.  Since this is the last day of work on the trench before break, the afternoon was devoted to straightening the baulk walls, levelling the floor and cleaning the trench.  Also, the following depths were taken to quantify the depth of the trench over the last couple of days:

Point     Coordinate (m)     Depth (c.m. b.d.)

1           53.6S 160.3E       52.5

2           51.6S 160.61E     44

3           51.48S 161.49E   44

4           52.51S 161.36E   32

5           53.54S 161.38E   47

1/2 cassette of terracotta and 1/8 latte box of pottery was found and still no special finds.  As of so far, the soil is also still brown/olive-brown and crumbly.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
