There are 146 bone fragments recovered from T-78 in 2015; this is a relatively low number of bone, especially compared with findings from other Tesoro trenches further east, around the area of OC 2 Workshop, or from areas further west, in the northern end of the non-elite village discovered in 2012 and 2013. Although the total number of bone fragments found is relatively low, over 60% of all bone found in T-78 was recovered from securely contextualized deposits. Locus 5 contained 74 fragments of bone, or 51% of all bone found, while Locus 7 had 16 pieces of bone, or 11% of the osteological assemblage. Only 37% of the bone found in T-78 came from disturbed contexts. All bone appears to be animal and only a limited number of diagnostic fragments were found; diagnostic bone fragments from decontextualized loci were not special found, and the only diagnostic fragment to come from a securely contextualized locus came from Locus 7 . Additionally, one piece of bone that may preserve butcher marks was found in Locus 5 .

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
