Daily Log

Began clearing the Archaic wall running north/south through the central cella of the tripartite building/trench.  The wall is covered in grass, moss, and small plants.  We are clearing the southern wall of the trench to the west of the N/S archaic complex.  Also we will begin to remove the back fill from the area directly to the east of the north/south archaic period wall.  As we are unsure whether this area has plastic under the backfill we will proceed as if it is a normal locus.  Locus 1 is the humus layer through meters:

  • 137.93mE/28.22mS - 28.63m
  • 138.55mE/27.18mS - 28.70m
  • 138.09mE/25.50mS - 28.78m
  • 139.87mE/25.50mS - 28.43m
  • 139.74mE/25.95mS - 28.38m
  • 138.85mE/26.15mS - 28.56m
  • 139.36mE/28.42mS - 28.39m

It became apparent Locus 1 was backfill.  Therefore, we continued to clean and remove the soil as backfill and clipped all grass and roots that covered the trench.  We also began to trim the baulks along the archaic wall.  we will redeclare locus 1 when undisturbed soil has been reached.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
