photo - 3 views of trench
THURSDAY, JUNE 25
Photos taken from east, south, and a detail of stones. Continued cut through meter E78/S18-20, soil retains Locus 2 designation. Roots were thickly matted through the soil. Depths taken. Depth of sounding trench (E77-79/S18-20) ranges from approximately 47.5 cm below datum to 51 cm below datum.
Plan is to entend CA 44 into meters E78-79/S21, in an attempt to follow the line of stones to the south. Entension trench was laid out and the area was cleared. Surface depths were taken in southern extension.
An account of all recovered material will be reocrded in P.M. section.
Baulks trimmed. The Munsell designation of Locus 4 (area south of stones) was determined as 2.5y 4/3, an olive brown soil similar to that of Locus 2. No material was found in Locus 4 today.
Locus 7 was determined as the topsoil of CA 49's recent southern entension. A cut was taken through this humus layer in meters E78-79/S21. 6 chunks of worn terracotta and 2 pieces of worn pottery were found within this cut into Locus 7. the level of the soil in Locus 7 is now 13 cm below datum. The appearance of the tops of some very large stones (in meters E78-79/S21) may prove later to be an entension of the aforementioned line of stones (Locus 3 - meters E77-78/S21).

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.
The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
