Soil: gray/brown claylike in locus 2 - yellow/brown soil seen in the baulk walls identifying locus 3
Passes: 1 pick pass through the southern 2/3 of the trench
Began with opening elevations and then work on cleaning the baulk walls. Soil change to locus 3 identified in south baulk wall and southern 2/3 of east and west baulk walls. Soil change not yet identified in center of trench or in north baulk wall. Yellow/brown soil located in pockets throughout the trench.
12:30pm - 3:30pm
Tools: trowels, buckets, dustpan, baulk hammer, pick axe, plumb bob, line level, tape measure
Soil: gray/brown claylike from locus 2 and increasingly yellow/brown throughout the interior of the trench
Passes: no pick passes, trowelled through raised areas
Closing Elevation for day and Locus 2:
- NW: 104cm Below Datum Point
- NE: 101cm BD
- SW: 102.5cm BD
- SE: 67.5cm BD
Terracotta: 1 bowl
Pottery: 11 pcs incl. 1 rim\xf9
Other: 1 pc bone
Continued searching for the elusive yellow/brown soil throughout the trench by trowelling the high spots. Decided to declare locus 3 at the end of the day.
