Tesoro Trench 34 (T34) will be located approximately 14 meters south of the upper (archaic) building in a previously unexcavated area directly west of T21, which is described in FA1 (1978-79), AG1 (1993-94), MG1 (1997) and ACL2 (2000). The initial location of T34 will be bound by the points (144.5 E, 48 S), (144.5 E, 50 S), (148.5 E, 48 S) and (148.5 E, 50 S) according to the master grid system described in TT1 (1991).

This excavation has several goals. First, it will seek to contribute to the understanding of the stratigraphy of the Tesoro area. Second, it will investigate the possibility of further architecture or features contemporary with the archaic phase of the site. Furthermore, it hopes to uncover information pertaining to the use of this area during the orientalizing period. Overall, this excavation should further illuminate

the role of this area in each major period of ancient habitation.

Pottery and bone fragments recovered from this excavation will be recorded in number of pieces on a daily basis. Terracotta fragments will be recorded in number of latte boxes.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
