We extend the topsoil cut to the north and west in L 86-90 and clean down to flor ( or floor level) in Q-R 89-90.  We also begin removing the rock packing in P 89.  The topsoil continues to yield a good deal of tile (boxes) and plaster, some of which is badly burned (eg. No. 3) and soem pottery (more than 1 strawberry box) including large and small impasto pot rim fragments and bucchero kantharos handle fragments as well as a fragment of post-antique (glazed) pithcer, set aside, as is a slingstone.  Deepening the cut in L 88-87 we encounter plaster soil with some burn material and 2 possible ivory fragments (Nos. 4, 5).  In Q-R 89-90 a black layer blankets the floor but gives way at the north to a yellow layer.  Overthe black layer in the plaster soil we find the plaster fragment No. 2.  An intense plaster burn soi yields the akroterion fragment No. 1.  We clean down to the concentration of rock, tile, plaster, pottery, and pithos (rim) fragments in plaster soil - below a clay soil still under the great stone removed for a photo.

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
