Work this morning concentrated on the floor. In one area to the southeast of the unfired covertius in meters x-y/176-78 the fill was removed then previously unexcavated area was worked on. This area lay south and east of the column base. Deteriorated floor was found 1.10 to 1.20 meters off the side of the hill from the base so far. The soil here was hard and brown and very little material came from here including a few pieces of tile, some plaster and a couple of odd finds.

Additionally around stumps to the southeast of T-26 excavation of backfill stretched into previously unexcavated areas. Some tile and plaster was removed as well as a couple of pottery fragments including a stamped piece of bucchero.

The cut down to approximately 60 cm was continued across 86-91 cm into J. The soil contained varying amounts of plaster in a grey brown soil. To the west in 86 and into 89 along J-K there was a heavy scattering of black and red burn in the soil. Despite 2 cassette (70% tile, 30 % plaster) removed and 1 latte box of mixed pottery from these two meters almost no material showed burning. Across to 91 less material came out (5 cassette of mostly tile) and the soil was loose and had more disintigrated plaster in it. One latte box of mixed pottery was removed. Again very little material was burned and very litttle burn was found in the soil. Several fragments of pithos were also found.

The area still at the level of 40 cm or so around the tile pithos rock area was also cleaned down some and some of the material lifted. A loom weight and what appeared to be a statue or akroterion fragment was found here. A small amount of fineware was still found as well as a small amount of mixed pottery.
