Today is a half day due to the Palio race in Siena, so there will only be an AM entry. Work in the afternoon will be done in the magazzino. Started today by leveing the northeast corner towards the middle of the trench in the north to bring it down to the rest of the trench's level. Using trowels in this process. Will occassionaly be going in with a brush to clean off rocks throughout the trench in the process of leveling the trench. Looking for the more clay like soil. Hoping to find the new soil, to baulk wall, clean up the trench, and take photographs in preperaton of opening Locus 2 today. Would also like to see the small, southern most stump removed.
While leveling in the northeast side of the trench the small southern most stump was removed, along with medium sized roots. Began finding the more clay like soil. Will clean up the trench and baulk walls to get ready to close Locus 1 and open Locus 2 . One piece of terra cotta found.
