Seated statue, frag. of stool leg
1T Tilebed finally cleaned and photgraphed. Tiles lifted, 36 boxes. A few sherds and bone fragments one of which was unusually large (16cm.). In the NE corner tiles appeared in great number but below (ca 35 cm deep) the level of the proper tilebed which appeared 20cm deep (at the W edge).
Two feet were found among the tiles and a few fragments which seem to belong to a seated statue (part of lap and arm). One ear was found which fitted with a curved piece found close to it.

Bird's head (also find 8), bucchero

1S The second course across the trench was finished. Found at about 1.50m E and 4.00m N were a flat, leaf-like piece of bronze and a small bucchero bird's head. Red patches continued indiscriminately along the western edge. Also found were several worn pieces of frieze showing guilloche.
