Civitate B11

The trench was taken down to galaestro.  The depth increased from 0.20 to 0.50m from east to west, up the hill.  At the west end bedrock appeared, and just below the bedrock a very thin, one meter long line of stones, set on end and curving slightly to the south.

Civitate B12

On the same axis as B11 and slightly to the west, a trench 0.60 X 12.70m was dug 0.25-0.30m down to galestra.  About 2.5m from the lower eastern end of the trench a group of rocks 0.60m was found.  To ascertain their exact nature a small trench 1.00 X 3.00m was begun.  Two small tiles were found.

Civitate B13

On the same E-W axis as B12, a trench 0.60 X 14.00m was dug down 0.30-0.40m to galestra or bedrock.  At the east end some stones were found.  The trench was widened around there to 1.50m.  About ten small pieces of tile and a fragment of a foot of an impasto vase were found.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
