Excavation continued in locus 5 .  A pick-pass was carried out throughout the locus, then selected areas were picked, primarily the southeast and southwest corners of the trench (these are still within locus 5 ).  Approximately 1/5 bowl of small well-worn fragments of terracotta was recovered.  Approximately 1/3 latte- box of pottery sherds was found.  One piece of slag/vitrified material was made a bulk find.  It was found in the proximity of the slag/vitrified material made special find #4.  Three small pieces of bone were found.  Most of the pottery sherds found today were located in the southwest quadrant of the trench.  End of the day closing elevations for locus 5 were made.

#1. Locus 5 82-84-E/45-47-S Approximately 29.98 m. above absolute elevation (65 cm. below datum point) Bronze droplet

#2. Locus 5 83.1-E/46.3-S 25.93 m. above absolute elevation (70 cm. below datum point) Bronze chunk

#3. Locus 5 82.7-E/46.3-S 25.91 m. above absolute elevation (72 cm. below datum point) Coarse ware sherd with vitrification

#4. Locus 5 83.7-E/45.7-S 25.96 m. above absolute elevation (67 cm. below datum point) Slag/vitrified material

End of the day co-ordinate elevations for locus 5 :

NW(80-E/43-S): 26.10 m. above absolute elevation (53 cm. below datum point)

NE(84-E/43-S): 26.17 m. above absolute elevation (46 cm. below datum point)

SE(84-E/47-S): 25.85 m. above absolute elevation (78 cm. below datum point)

SW(80-E/47-S): 25.85 m. above absolute elevation (78 cm. below datum point)
