Daily Log

July 31, 1979

A new cut of approximately 20 cms. in depth was started this morning.  This makes the new floor level approximately 80 cms. in depth.  With this depth, the end of the Tile Layer was reached.  Thus, the Tile Layer in meters EE-II/13-16 was uniformly 15-60 cms. in depth.  Beneath the Tile Layer is a heavily burned soil (black) which is approximately 15 cms. in depth.  This burn layer contains a lot of carbon - particularly meters GG-HH/13 - and a lot of pottery.  Course ware and red ware is abundant.  Also, a small yellow aryballus was found in EE-14.

Meters GG-II/13-16 contains a large quantity of tile - not only in the Tile Layer, but in the burn layer that lies below.  In meter GG-HH/13 several large stones were found - they appear to be the corner of a wall.  Though it is difficult to discern, the rocks are packed in the fashion of a wall.

  • Tile count: 9 cassetti
  • Pottery count: 4 boxes

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
