Introduction

The purpose of Trench T-50 is to excavate the area remaining to the north of the Orientalizing workshop which stands untouched after T-30, T-22, and T-26.  This area is directly south of the column pads found during excavation of T-30 and occupies a transitional space between those undefined column pads and the column pads of the Orientalizing workshop. The goal of excavation is to descend to the level commensurate with that of the column pads in order to define this space. Previous excavations in the area include T-30 immediately to the north (See BFMI, JPBIII, CNT1), T-31 to the immediate west (See KSKI and EAJI) along with T-22 (See SLI), T-26 to the east (See TTII & III), and T-26 (See NMIII) to the south. The trench can be divided into three sections with these coordinates:

Section A         Section B             Section C

NE        54S/182E          58.4S/180E           58.4S/176E

NW       54S/180E          57.4S/178E           58.4S/174.4E

SE        59.6S/181.6E     59.4S/180E           59.8S/176E

SW       59.4S/180E        59.8S/178E           59.6S/174.4E

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
