Daily Log 23/7/15
Excavation began in Locus 8 , digging in the western meter. Once the area was down to a darker clay-like soil, it was decided to dig the rest of the trench to the new soil and prepare the extension for a new locus. Tile and pottery were found and one piece of vitrified terracotta. Charcoal was found in small deposits. Nine pick passes were completed before lunch.
A Pick pass was completed in the northwestern section of the locus. During this pick pass, a tile packing was discovered. Using trowels and handpicks, the tile packing was exposed. The tile packing is situated next to the tile packing in Locus 7 of VT7.

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.
The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
