Daily Log

July 12 Monday A.M.only

Work continued, to clear the Eastern half of the stone feature, to expose its contours prior to scrutiny.

In the galestra surrounding the South-East quadrant of the feature, a small pocket of C, the black earth layer, was exposed - thisis typicalof the lower contours of that layer of fill, since little pockets of the black earth were scattered over the whole trench, either due to the ancient levels of the ground or fill below, or possibly due to the action of the trees that later grew or were planted on the site. - sent down from the C layer were: 2 Strawberry boxes of impasto sherds - 1 bag of bones (4) - 1 bag with two pieces of charcoal, possibly to be identified for original composition (wood, root)

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
