Locus 3 was cleared down to the top of Locus 4, the destruction layerl. It was then drawn and photographed as was the other cut, in meters 167-169 E, 28-29.5 S. The new locus 4 is thickly strewn with carbon and bits of plaster. Tile cover is thick enough to make excavation difficult, with occasional depths of ten centimeters. The tiles are often lying vertically or diagonally. A frieze plaque (find #2) and a rochetto (find #1) came to light, along with several curious terracottas of presumed architectural function. Resting upon the terracotta tiles and intermingled with them are several fist-sized (ca 5-10 cm) rocks. Those that rest above terracotta tiles are presumed to be out of context and

were removed during the recovery of materials from the destruction. The frieze plaque (pg 55, #2) combined with the rosette fragment (page 43 #2) suggest an unequivocal terminus post quem of the date of the archaic building's destruction. The opening coordinates of Locus 4 at the corners were: NW 1.25m; NE 1.27 m; SW 1.30 m; SE 1.35 m; center 1.27 B.D.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
