WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17
A.M.
The topsoil cut (Locus 1) was completed thru meters E82-84, S18-20 removing 5-10 cm of topsoil which was thickly matted with roots. There were also numerous small stones, approximately fist sizwed (5-10 cm). Material recovery was limited and all tile and ceramic quantities will be recorded in the afternoon.
Due to the numerous tree stumps several secs will be cleaned down further in the afternoon and the baulks will be trimmed as well.
P.M.
The north, south and west baulks were straightened. The soil around the stumps in the meters E27-20, S18-20 was removed. This soil maintained the designation of Locus 1.
Total material recovery for the day included fragments of heavily worn terracotta and heavily worn fragments of ceramic.

Editorial Note | Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods. The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets. |
