Daily Log

Begun cut in meter 51S161E.  Uncovered a large concentration of tile fragments and large plaster pieces.  The concentration extends over meters 51S161E and 52S161E.  It appeared to have no architectural significance and was taken as indicative of a tile spread.  The soil also changed during this cut, so locus 13 was made - the following pints for it were taken:

Coordinates(m)               Depths(cm)

51.54S 160.47E              116.5

52.34S 160.55E              114.5

52.34S 161.45E              115

51.52S 161.41E              122

53.22S 161.39E              119

53.32S 160.38E              115

The soil is very rich in material: terracotta flecks, plaster flecks, bronze flecks, and white particulates.

Finished cut.  Approximate closing depth for the trench is 123cm b.d.  2 1/3 cassette of terracotta and plaster were found and 1 1/2 latte boxes of bulk pottery.  There were 9 special finds.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
