Tile 3

Plaster 1

Pottery 1+ latte

We widen yesterday's topsoil cut toward the east and lenghten it to the north and south reachign mid 90 in the east, in the south (mid 90) mid R, and in the north 89-mid 90 M.  The depth is uniformly ca. 10-15 cm. and in O-P 88-89 the floor is the top of the rock packing.  (Note that the west edge includes the east edge of 88.)  We aslo dig down in Q 89-90 toward the floor, entering the familiar plaster/burn soil but not a heavy stone or tile concentration.  The topsoil cut yields a great deal fo tile and plaster but not much pottery, which includes a post-antique (glazed) sherd, also a tiny bit of bronze.  Deepening it (to 30 cm.) yields some tile and little pottery.  A small proportion of tile and plaster from the topsoil is burned.

Tile 1.5

Plaster .25

Pottery less than 10 sherds

We widen the topsoil cut to the eastern margin of M-P 80 and continue to recover a great deal of tile and plaster, some burnt, and negligble pottery, as well as a small amoun tf bone and the handsome rocchetto No. 1.  In 85 M a large bit of carbonized wood is found and one detects a fair concentration of tile in the floor, some of which is dug out.  Pichetti are rearranged to accomodate further extension of the trench north and east.
