Work continued in the north extension, Locus 6 , and the east extension, Locus 7 . In Locus 6 the soil is being removed over the bedrock in the northeast corner. In Locus 7 the soil beneath the stump is being removed and the rest of the extension taken down to the level of the trench. Pick passes done in Locus 7 , soil remains consistent. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench. Hand pick used in the northeast corner of Locus 6 , soil also remains consistent, sorted and cleaned from the trench. Little material being found in Locus 6 , more material found in Locus 7 , especially under the stump. Locus 7 soil carbon included, especially in the north corner and around the stump. Locus 6 excavated down to bedrock and baulk walled. One large rim and possible associated pieces in the wall. Wall drawn to show the relationship of Locus 6 to the bedrock. The medium brown claylike soil directly overlies the bedrock and in the case of Locus 3 is inlaid into the bedrock cracks. Artifacts are included in Locus 6 soil and in cases sit directly on the bedrock.

Continued pick passing through Locus 10 to reveal the extent of the bedrock. Soil remains consistent with Locus 10 soil, sorted and cleaned from trench. Material still being found, but in smaller quantities. Locus 9 also being troweled through around the bedrock. Beginning to reveal a new soil beneath Locus 9 , troweling out Locus 9 to explore its extent. In cleaning Locus 10 recovered a piece of worked chert.

Appears that the soil may not be changing but may just be mottled in places—hard to tell because soil is wet from

rain. Will determine tomorrow when it is dried what is happening in Locus 9 .
