June 13, 1978
Excavation continued today with clearing of the stone packing remaining in N. A short extension was left where the packing meets the stone wall at the western end of T-17 (N 1-2). A cut was taken first in N-3 to the present floor level of O. The stone packing extends to a depth c. 1.0m. Directly underneath lies a burned layer containg numerous tile fragments and pieces of carbon. At and below this level in N-3 were found a large piece of bronze, fragments of bucchero, and a cavetto fragment of a frieze plaque. At this point it was decided to continue clearing N 2-5 to the depth presently established in O, and northward as far as the floor level of the 1977 excavation of J-M. Simultaneously, the clearing of NT B-C 2-4 was begun. This cut is intended to parallel the cut being taken in NT-2 (see J.H. Book II, p.5 ) and to define the interior structure of the north slope.

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.
The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
