METHODOLOGY

T-53 was established on the mastergrid system as close to points as possible, though significant erosion prevents exact measurements in some cases.

Datum Point:  Located SE of the trench on a tree at 28.29 m. above absolute elevation, adjusted to 28.00m absolute elevation

Units of Measure: Bowl:  24 cm. in diameter, 7 cm. in depth

Latte Box:  1 liter in volume

Note on Special Find drawings:  The measurements given for the drawings are only rough approximations for identification purposes.

Excavation findings will consistently dictate methodology in the trench. However, pick axes will be used for the top soil and soil with low material content. Material will be sorted over buckets and again in the wheel barrow. When material rich soil appears trowels will be the primary tool of excavation. Terracotta will be measured in bowls that can contain approximately 2 liters of material and pottery and bone will be measured in 1 liter latte boxes.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
