Good weather after several days of rain: an auspicious day for a novitiate to start digging.
A trench 5 m wide and 10.70 m long laid out at east end of Civi. Label - 2G. A grid system devised: each square meter designated by a leter (A-E west to east) and a number (1-10 north to south) - see plan of 2G.
Workmen began clearing away strata A. Angelo et al cleaned away rubble along sides of dump. Four boxes of tile were dumped, a few pot sherds.
