Digging was resumed.  The clearing of a second course of earth revealed the other three walls of the building whose west wall had already appeared in 5D (see TG II 1967, p. 149 ).  North and south walls were about 7.60 m in length, east and west, about 6.35 m.  The average width across the wall was 45 cm.  Construction was the same as before - one or two large stones used to make up the thickness.  The NE corner appeared at 10.15 m S and 3.10 m W; the SE corner was at 1.65 m N and 3.35 m W.  There was no sign of a doorway.

Digging in the area D7-D8 produced a few more pieces of horse race frieze.  In N1, within the foundations of the building and seemingly sunk below the level of the stones, were found most of the pieces of a large impasto pot, in place, but well broken ( 19680601

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
