Daily Log 24/7/14
A pick pass was started in the southern half of Locus 8. The soil in the northern half is a very flakey soil. We will work to expose the extent of the soil in the south. While cleaning the soil a tooth was recovered (SF #1). The baulk walls were trimmed in locus 8 . Another pick pass was done in the southern half of the trench. Locus 11 was picked and the soil was sorted. While cleaning the soil here a small tooth (SF #2) and a front incisor were found (SF #3). The rocks in locus 9 were further defined and are now clear enough to be drawn.

The baulk between locus 8 and the sounding was leveled. While cleaning up the soil in locus 11 a handle fragment of 2 cylinders was recovered (SF #4). Another pick pass was done in locus 11 . While picking a coarse ware rim (SF #5) was recovered. The soil was sorted and sieved. More of the yellow mottled soil was uncovered. A large rock is starting to be better defined in the middle of the locus. While cleaning a piece of vitrified terracotta (SF #6) and a diagnostic bone fragment (SF #8) were found. Another pick pass was done in the southern part of locus 8. Some more of the flakey soil was uncovered. A fragment of horn was found (SF #7). Another fragment of bone was found, it might be a growth plate (SF #9). Another pick pass was done in locus 11 . While cleaning up he soil another incisor tooth was found (SF #10).

PM A pick pass was done in locus 11 . The soul was cleaned and dirt dumped. The floor of locus 11 is a few centimeters higher than locus 5 in the sounding. Locus 11 was scraped and leveled. The rocks along the southern and northern boarders were defined. The rock in the middle of the locus was defined. The floor was leveled. While cleaning a fragment of incised pottery was found (SF #11).

The locus is now level with the sounding. The baulked will be trimmed and rocks defined. The trench was tarped at the end of the day.
