Pick pass completed over the southwestern 1x1.5m strip. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench. Soil consistent with Locus 2 soil, with some small rocks, 4-8cm. Relatively high concentrations of material coming up, especially large pieces of bone in the southwest corner. Some carbon appearing, but around the stump so probably associated. Pick pass done in the center meter strip of the trench, soil consistent with Locus 2 soil. Soil sorted and cleaned from trench. Lots of material appearing, and have already filled one pottery box. Picking done over area of the trench in high places to level trench. Soil consistent with Locus 2 , soil sorted and cleared from the trench. Still a good amount of material, including large sherds of pottery, 3-4cm, and large bone fragments, also 3-4cm. Pick pass begun over last eastern meter wide area of the trench. Soil sorted and cleaned from the trench, soil consistent with Locus 2 . In cleaning, coil made ridged pottery found.

The eastern meter, like the rest of the trench, is fairly prolific in materials both pottery and bone. Bedrock seems to be appearing in the southeast corner. Pick pass completed in the western wide meter area strip. Soil consistent with Locus 2 , sorted and cleared from the trench. In cleaning found another piece of slag.

Pick pass completed in northwestern corner to level it, especially among the rots and three large rocks (see page 29 illustration). Soil remains Locus 2 and sorted and cleaned from trench. Less material recovered in the northwest corner. Pick pass done again over western meter of the trench. Soil sorted and cleared from trench, consistent with Locus 2 . Stump removed in the southwest corner. Soil sorted beneath and debris cleaned. Roots clipped.
