II. Methodology

II. METHODOLOGY

T-83 was laid out on the master-grid system established for the site.

The trench was excavated stratigraphically.

Datum point: Located on a tree situated near the southwest corner of the trench at 26.63 m. above absolute elevation.

Units of measure:

Terracotta was measured by volume utilizing a plastic bowl with an inner bottom diameter of 18 cm.,and with an upper inner diameter of 24 cm.  It was 7 cm. in depth.

Pottery was measured by volume utilizing a latte-box of one liter capacity.

Note on Special Find drawings:

The measurements given for the drawings are only rough approximations for identifications purposes.

Note on co-ordinate elevation measurements:

The measurements given were taken in the location nearest the particular grid co-ordinate that best represented the slope of the locus in that area.

Pick-pass:

Excavation method used for the most part.  The soil was fist picked, then it was troweled and sorted into a bucket, then dumped into a wheelbarrow.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
