Daily Log- 9/7/15

9/7/15

AM

We began the morning defining the rock packing and stump and picking the western half of the locus. Material is being found near the stump and in the western half, no material has been recovered in the rock. Another 2 pick passes were done in the western half, while emptying a bucket from the 1 st pick pass a body sherd with a finial attachment (SF#1). The other pick passes were cleared and some more tile and pottery was found. Another 2 pick passes were done in the western part of the locus, it is still this area that is producing artifacts while the defining of the linear rock packing is producing little to nothing. The stump in the southeastern corner was defined. The rocks and soil in the northwestern part of locus 16 was picked and defined. The soil here is harder and baked from being exposed last summer and early this year. Using a hand pick the soil was picked and rocks defined. A yellow clay like soil with white inclusions was found here.
