Daily Log

Monday 18 June 1984

Morning :

Work continued cleaning off the tiles in V-W/67-68 and they were again photographed. More time was spent inspecting these tiles, those directly from this area and others laid out for possible joins.

The tile concentration in aB/59-61 continued to be cleaned down with a few small pieces of plaster, tile and pottery recovered.

Baulk in R/61-65 continued to be cleaned down with a lot of very disintigrated plaster mixed in with the dirt. Burn flecks also appear scattered randomly. There appeared to be a line of disintegrated plaster approx. 55-70 cm below surface level with tile below that. Baulks in M/77-82 and M-R/82 continued  to be cleaned. Throughout M-R/82 there appeared projecting tiles from the surface to the floor of the trench fill. There doesn't seem to be any great plaster concentration here. More floor was uncovered in Q.

Afternoon :

tile= 1

pottery= 1/2

Work continued cleaning down the floor and tile concentration.
