This morning it was declared to declare a new locus across the entire extension due to the soil change that was exposed yesterday afternoon. Opening photographs and opening elevations were taken, and Locus 5 was declared open. The opening coordinates and elevation of Locus 5 are as follows:

NW Corner (102E/42S): 26.82 mAE

NE Corner (106E/42S): 26.91 mAE

SE Corner (106E/44S): 26.78mAE

SW Corner (102E/44S): 27.09 mAE

of Locus 5:

Locus 5 is a yellowish-brown clay-like soil that retains moisture but becomes gritty and friable when exposed to a lot of sunlight. Additionally, small fist-sized rocks can be found scattered

Throughout the locus.

A pick pass was executed across the entire locus and the soil was shoveled into buckets and sorted into wheelbarrows.

Another pick pass was executed across the entire locus in order to bring down the level of the locus.

After the soil was cleared it was decided to clip roots so that picking and shoveling will be easier.

Another pick pass was executed across the entire locus in order to lower the level of that area. Small concentrations of terra cotta and bone have been recovered with most of the material coming from the northwestern area of the locus.

During clearing a fragment of ridged pottery was recovered.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
