Excavation began this morning in Locus 2 . We are breaking soil with picks and sorting soil with trowels. Tile and pottery is present in the locus. Soil is hard packed and baked from the sun. We are working from east to west across the locus. Four pick passes completed before lunch.

PM

Work began this afternoon throughout Locus 2 . Soil in Locus 2 remains a dark brown with some small, and occasionally large, charcoal inclusions. Tile and pottery are being recovered. The possible beginnings of a tile deposit is becoming visible in the centre of the locus.

A charcoal sample was taken. Additionally, a conglomerate stone was uncovered, and partly defined in the Northeast of the trench.
