The strip 33-37 was completed and brush and topsoil were removed to allow for a further extension to the east. The trench was extended 6.50 meters (37-43) with its northern boundary fixed by the previously excavated trench T1 AJ (3.15 meters south of the northern boundary of the rest of T8). The southern boundary was kept in line with the rest of T8. A curious terracotta piece with 3 parallel raised lines ( 19 July entry ).
) was found in O-38. Also a piece of banquet frieze ungrided. This strip (37-43) turned up the same layer of small to medium-sized stones noted in the previous strip (33-37;

A new trench was started. It adjoins to T6D along the S edge, T7 along the W edge and T8 along the N. It measures ca 18x25 m and a uniform grid is set up for the whole area which however will be excavated in small sections. For extension and grid see
