Daily Log

July 29, 1972

Work continued in the north extensions of Trenches 18 and 19.

T-19 J-M/34-36:

The tile layer was lifted - producing one cassette of pottery and 12 cassetti of tiles which were discarded.

T-19 J-K/30:

Excavation continued in the reddish soil stratum.  The heavy concentration of reddish pottery continued from J/30 into K/30.  In K/30, fine molded pottery was found, including cups with molded cut-pressed tongues and handles in the shape of female figures.  This pottery lies directly above a heavy carbon layer which runs N-S in meter 30, which is possibly a wooden beam.

For finds, see JN II.
