Daily Log

Did 5 cm cut over entire trench.  Stones began to appear sporadically in the north half of the trench and ranged in size from 5cm-25cm.  In the south half of the trench a concentration of stones appeared, again ranging in size from 5-25cm.  It was decided then that the floor should be swept in order to better see the stones.  The baulk walls dividing loci 2 and 3 were also defined during this cleaning.

Finished cleaning the floor and trowelling around the stones to search for more stones and further define those already present.  After this, the stones appeared to have no pattern, so it was decided to note the placement of them and proceed under them.  These are the following measurements for 3 of the largest stones:

Coordinates(m)          Diameter(cm)          Depth(cm)

51.30S 160.5E           15                          58.5

52.48S 160.54E         23                          56

53.67S 160.45E         14                          53

Also, the baulk walls were trimmed, the floor swept and cleaned.  A full latte box of bulk pottery was found, 1/4 cassetta of terracotta, and one special find.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
