Trimmed western baulk. Depths were recorded in preparation to excavate meters E77-79/S18-20. The depth of the sounding trench ranged from 18.5 cm to 37 cm below datum. The trench was swept down. A large stump was removed from metersE78-79/S18-19 which yielded 4 fragments of terracotta. These terracottas were found within the roots and fall under the Locus 1 designation.

A cut was continued from the west through meters E77/S18-20, though it was not completed. The soil in this area remained yellowish and was matted with roots. The earth in this zone retains the Locus 2 designation. Little material was recovered from the Locus 2 soil, only a few sherds of impasto and no architectural terracotta. In addition, an outcropping of what appears to be bedrock was revealed in meter E77/S20. The

stone forms a line cutting to the southeast across the meter. The stones also slope downward to the southwest.

A comprehensive account of all finds will be recorded in the P.M. entry.

Completed cut through meters E77-79/S18-20. Trimmed eastern baulk of trench. Started new cut, moving westward, of approximately 10-15 cm deep in meters E77/S18-20. Since there was no change in soil color, texture, or amount of type of material, it continues to retain the Locus 2 designation.

Found were 4 pieces of terracotta from the roots of a stump (Locus 1), also 2 terracotta fragements and 3 bits of badly worn impasto were found in the yellowish soil (Locus 2).
