P.M.

No work was done this morning due to lack of personnel.

In the afternoon work continued in S 26, E 138 removing the baulk.  The remainder of LOCUS 19 was removed to a depth of 65 cm b.d.  This produced 2 bone fragments, 3 pottery sherds and 2 bits of tile.

Below this was a darker brown soil with heavier inclusions of carbon, LOCUS 20, this layer extended to a depth of approx. 73 cm b.d., although in the eastern 30 cm of the area the carbon was much heavier at approx. 71-72 cm b.d. and still rematins in particles.  The soil below the carbon filled soil, which began appearing 72-73 cm was a yellowish color.  From LOCUS 20 3/4 of a latte box of pottery and bone- some of the sherds exhibiting signs of burning- 16-18 fragments of tile and plaster were recovered along with (#1) an impasto rim, and a bucchero conical foot w/ tondo (#2)

The lower 4-5 cm of todays work also extended southward into S27, E 138 approximately 10 cm, leaving a narrow area along the orientalizing

wall to protect the integrity of the wall.  This soil was included in the Locus 20 due to the continuity of the stratigraphy.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
