Since the W par of the trench was still muddy after the rain the E strip was excavated. The dump from the two previous seasons formed the topsoil. This was taken off and the second layer stacked. 3 boxes of tiles were dumped. The second layer produced 2 pieces of cornice and 1 piece with guilloche. Work was resumed in the area D-E 1-4 which now produced only tiles, pieces of a large pithos and very few sherds

This part was taken down almost to the level of T5E, but there was not sign of bedrock and the fragments seemed to be stacked over each other and the layer continued deeper down. A curious object found here was part of a flat disc with a raised edge under which a paw (?) was attached, 3 boxes of tiels were dumped.
