Daily Log

June 26, 1989

Since the W par of the trench was still muddy after the rain the E strip was excavated.  The dump from the two previous seasons formed the topsoil.  This was taken off and the second layer stacked.  3 boxes of tiles were dumped.  The second layer produced 2 pieces of cornice and 1 piece with guilloche.  Work was resumed in the area D-E 1-4 which now produced only tiles, pieces of a large pithos and very few sherds

  • Find #4
  • F8, E3
  • Horserace frieze

This part was taken down almost to the level of T5E, but there was not sign of bedrock and the fragments seemed to be stacked over each other and the layer continued deeper down.  A curious object found here was part of a flat disc with a raised edge under which a paw (?) was attached, 3 boxes of tiels were dumped.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
