Continued cut in Y-Z/18, removing about 70 cm. of these meters, which were uncompleted Mon. Worked westward through meters Y-Z/17-16, lowering the trench floor to roughly 140 cm. b.d. The soil was yellowish-brown throughout the southern portion of the cut (part of meters Z/18-16). A slightly darker, 'clayey' soil was found in the northern sections. The cut produced 1 latte box of pottery and bone fragments and about 3/4 cassetta of tile fragments, most of the material came from th edarker yellow-brown soil. In meter Y, along the 17-18 meter line a large coarseware vessel was discovered at 140 cm. It is roughly 35 cm. in diameter. It was left in situ as it extends deeper than the level of the current cut. Sporadic flecks of carbon were also noted throughout the cut.
