Daily Log

June 25, 1970

The new cut grid NS 29-33 was cleared.  The whole area consists of bedrock with a few large blocks at the S end and the rest all broken up.  Thus, the wall indicated in grid M-P 6-7 in the T10 could not be traced, although attempts were made.  Whatever was placed on top of the bedrock must have been washed away since the covering topsoil (as preserved in 1970) had a

max. depth of 5-10 cm.  The corner R-S 29-30 showed a continuation of the heavy clayish grey soil noticed also in R-S 28, and produced no finds.

All of Tesoro and Civitate was very wet due to the heavy thunder storm the day before.  The afternoon was therefore spent with clearing of the trenches and some woodcutting.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
