The baulk walls on the south side of the trench were trimmed. An extension, 2m x 1m, was added to the north. Its location/confines are 78S 195E, 78S 197E, 79S 195E, and 79S 197E. This area was designated locus 8, humus and organic material filled topsoil, and a pick pass was made in the area. The reasoning for extending north is to see whether the rockpack/feature continues north or if there is a face on the north side as well. Rocks began appearing soon after the first pick pass so trowels and baulk hammers were used instead. An unusual piece of terracotta was found but it is rook tile.

Due to the location of the datum point, no below datum depths were taken as the extension is at a higher elevation than the datum point. Depths for this area will be done in below soil until the depths above datum can be configured.

PM

The baulk wall and south rockface were cleaned and trimmed. 1/3 cassette of terracotta and \xbc latte box of pottery was recovered from the trim. The trench was extended further north, 1m x 2m, from the area which was extended this morning. This area confined by 77S 195E, 77S 197E, 78S 195E, and 78S 197E is part of locus 8. The humus was removed. Meters 78S 195E and 196E were dropped to a depth of 5-10 cm.b.s. while 77S 195E and 196E were dropped 10-15 cm.b.s. The depth of the work depends on the appearance of rock in continuation of the rock packing. In meters 77S 195 and 196E the rock packing is just beginning to emerge.

In locus 8, \xbe cassettte of terracotta and 6 pieces of pottery were recovered.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
