Work was done this morning on the final clean-up of the trench. The stones in epsilon/57 were removed. Quite a bit of coarseware was found in the dirt underneath the stones. The stump and adhering stones in delta-epsilon/57-58 was left.

Hanging out of the baulk in gamma/57 is a large area of vitrified matter. It was left "in situ." The plaster mass in gamma/54-56 was cleaned down and defined. The area to the north of the column base in delta/53-54 was brought down to the "floor." The soil just above the "floor" was filled with small yellow plaster bits. Quite a few pithos fragments were found in this area. The complete pithos base surrounded by plaster in delta-epsilon/53 has been left "in situ."

The rest of gamma-epsilon/51-52 was brought down to "floor" level, but no "floor" was encountered.

The trench was then swept down - it is ready to be photographed and drawn.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
