AM

This morning we continued to trowel down through the packed soil of Locus 2 to the terracotta fragments/tile fall. This fall is thus far most apparent in the NW(below the rock packing) and NE of the trench. Continued to trowel down and lightly pick through Locus 2 across the trench. The soil remains fairly mottled, hard packed with inclusions of ceramic, terracotta and bone. Swept trench/ troweled and cleaned up before lunch.

PM

Picked, troweled to the terracotta fall. The spread seems to trail off in the middle of the trench (see diagram). Chopped roots and trimed the baulks in the NW and NE. Continued to pick/trowel for most of the day. Defined around the rocks that were in the SE and NW; those in the NW below the rock packing. These rocks seem to be resting on the same soil of Locus 2(there was no stacking) and so they were removed from the NW.

Material Yielded

Locus 2 - 2 3/4 bowls of terracotta; 1 box of ceramic; 3/4 box of bone

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
