Daily Log

30 June 03

Made 2.5 pick passes of trench.  Noticed soil change, the new soil had a sandier consistency while also having a significantly smaller amount of terracotta and an increase in bone fragments.  Observing the strata in the baulk walls shows that we have passed through the high concentration of terracotta which is indicative of the post-archaic destruction of the area.  On this evidence we closed Locus 3 and opened Locus 4 .

Closing elevations for Locus 3 are:

52S/182E = 27.24

52S/180E = 27.21

49S/182E = 27.29

49S/180E = 27.28

Ending amounts for Locus 3 are:

4 cassetta tile

1 latte box pottery

1/3 latte box bone

six special finds

Open Locus 4 .

Opening elevations are:

52S/182E = 27.24

52S/180E = 27.21

49S/182E = 27.29

49S/180E = 27.28

Completed pick pass, then trimmed baulks with trowels and baulk hammers.  Also levelled the floor.

Ending elevations for the day are:

52S/182E = 27.20

52S/180E = 27.17

49S/182E = 27.18

49S/180E = 27.22

1/2 latte box of bone and pottery

1/4 latte box for baulk trim

1 cassetta tile

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
