In the area we are investigating a tarp laid down after prior excavations in the area. As we do not know the extent or direction the tarp continues in we will keep track of all material recovered. The soil in this area is a dark brown soil that has few rocks or material. We will now begin taking down this area with baulk hammers and trowels. We are also working on cleaning the eastern baulk walls of feature A. We have removed the stump in the eastern wall of feature A. While working on the eastern baulk of feature A, a piece of cut bone was recovered (find #1). While troweling in the stump a staue fragment was recovered (find #2).
We have discovered that the tarp at the edge of locus 2 continues under the entire locus. We will now uncover and remove
the tarp and close locus 2 . Made a pick pass across part of locus 1 in an attempt to remove the remaining backfill and bring feature A to the level of the archaic wall. While cleaning up from the pick pass a piece of inscribed bucchero was recovered (find #3). It appears that we are now coming into an undisturbed context and will continue leveling to the archaic rocks.

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.
The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
