Bone summary

73

The bone excavated from T-26 1987, LM/78-81 and MNO/72-77 filled a plastic bag measuring

24cm X 8cm X 21cm. Most of the bone belonged to small animals, with about 10% belonging to largers ones. Two examples of worked bone (p. 63 #1 and 2) and 3 of cut bone (evidence of knife marks) were recovered.  Of the latter, the majority were from large animals and were found in meters LM/78-81 at ca. 90-110 cm below the surface, in close proximity to fragments of ivory, ivory inlays, bucchero and carbonized soil. Very little was burned, however. The bone at this elvel was also found in clusters-one pocket was in LM/78, and the other in LM/80.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
