A good amount of faunal material was recovered from VT11. In the upper strata Loci 2 and 3 the bone tended to be exceptionally fragmentary, possibly as a result of the compacted nature of the soil we were excavating. However, as we got into more secure loci, namely 5 and 7 , the number of fragments increased and was preserved relatively well. Most of the diagnostic bone appears to be from animals known in the region - boar, pig, sheep, and cow.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
