Removal of the pantile in P-77 was begun.  The tile measured 55 cm in width (flange to flange) at both the finished edge at the northern edge of the meter and also at the broken edge which appears to have gone over the stone in the southern end of the meter.  The length of the pantile is 40-50 cm.  While the entire width is preserved, the length is not.

The are to the west of T26-1982 was cleared of brush and grass and the area was mapped out to extend T26-1982 to include meters P-T:74-76.  The topsoil was removed throughout the entire trench area except for the area occupied by several large stumps (in meters T-76, P-74).  Four cassetle of tile were recovered from this cut and one large orangeware handle and one small pithos rim fragment.  A separate tile dump adjacent to the present one was

established for this extension.

A new cut of 30 cm was begun in meter T-74 and extended into S-74 and T, S-75.  A large chunk of slag was found in this cut in meter S-74 at 30 cm.  There appears to be a concentration of stores along the western edge of meters T, S-74.  The soil of this cut in this area is light brown with bits of carbon.

Note that the topsoil cut was 15-20 cm getting as deep as 30 cm in meter P-76.

Work began by continuing the 30 cm cut further into T, S-75, 74.  Ivory was found early and the soil carefully inspected.  No ivory other than the initial piece was found so the cut was continued and the soil inspected more quickly.  There is a row of stones, apparantly two stones thick along the western wall of meters T, S-74.  Also, a number of small stones are concentrated at 20 cm in meters S-74, 75.  A large pantile was found in S, T-75 but not excavated- it lies under a stump.  There could be a whole length or width preserved.  The soil of the cut remained the same as described this morning.

Bronze fragments were found as well as glassy slag.  Also a piece of file, partially vitrified plaster was also found.
