pottery - 3/4 latte

K-M/70, 10 c, cut to c. 70 c, bd Rock pack in this area is not noticeable, perhaps existecd by distinguished by rioot action. 10 cm cut in 70-68 should give us asection to west of pack in 67. Cut extended to K-L(M)/69. Tile in usual small and worn. Pottery mostly large impasto frags. Many roots and frequent pebble to 1/2 fist sized rocks. One piece of slag (?) recovered from L/69 at c. 65 cm. Soil is medium to light brown/yellowish with infrequent pockets of greyish desomposehed shale.

pottery - 5 pieces mixed (no bucchero)

K/66-67, 10 cm cut to  approx 70 c, bd Tewst to check for rock pack at lower level. If not there we will have section to south. --- Excavation has turned up rocks at whole range from 60 cm bd from 70 cm bd. These rocks are of mixed type and not as densely packed as in L-M/66-67. Also noted that there are large/frequesnt areas of decomposeing stone of shale type. Soil is very light grey-brown.

K-M/70-69, Another cut taken to c.76 cm bd no change in soil. Rocks remain infrequent. Pottery again mostly large impasto fragments. Tile small worn. A potential piece of terracotta scuplture found at c.74 cms in L/69. Smashed by pick. Found sitting vertical in soil. Small percentage of the tile and pottery did sit vertival in soil.

pottery - 1/2 latte

K-L(M) 68, Working this area down with mesti and hand pick, checking for rock pack. At approx 60 bd have not succeeded locating packing. Rocks infrequent and small - but more here than in 69-70. May have to go lower as in K/66-67. Tile here most frequent of horizontal exposure. Pottery mostly large impasto frags.
