Daily Log

July 13, 1976

Work continued on T 19, on the areas excavated on the previous day.  In cut 3, grids L 40-43 a line of large stones, all approximately the same size, was noted.  this does not seem to be a wall.  It aligns with the line of stones already noted in T 18-19, referred to as capping for the stone pack.  Interestingly enough, this line of stones is parallel to and on the same level as the foundation wall (north) of the Upper Building.  The line of stones also happens to be aligned with the rooms in the north extension- it lies almost direclty in the middle of the room's (long) axis and is also aligned with the doorway.  However, the line of stones is on a much higher level and in a different stratum entirely.

In grids L-O 39-40 a large quantity of redware, from numerous types of vases, was excavated.  The "doorway" in grids L 37-38 was excavated.  Indeed, it does seem to be a doorway.  The stones of the foundation wall end abruptly and start up again c. 1 m north.

Editorial Note

Open Context editors work with data contributors to annotate datasets to shared vocabularies, ontologies, and other standards using 'Linked Open Data' (LOD) methods.

The annotations presented above approximate some of the meaning in this contributed data record to concepts defined in shared standards. These annotations are provided to help make datasets easier to understand and use with other datasets.
